Ouch!

Loud, but GOOD loud. Ignore the duct tape covering a rust hole in the cowl...

The Prince of Darkness strikes... this was the main alternator output plug.

Begone, demons! I cast thee OUT!

That’s more like it...

Some of these are pretty old photos, she now wears a “Specialty Vehicle” license plate, which is only a rear plate. Technically, that means I’m only supposed to drive her for special events, but like one of the old-ti mers in my MG club told me, “Any time you drive one of these cars, it’s a special event.”

That is a gorgeous B/GT. I love your reasoning for the Maggie nickname. I had a Midget many years ago, so I can attest there is a lot of truth there. I do have to ask - is that a LIFTER? Ouch indeeed!

Lovely old thing, and I love that shade of yellow! Think I prefer the MGB Coupes to the convertibles, but, I’ve always been a metal-roof man over a fabric-roof man :)

Nice, I am trying to identify the "ouch" picture, a lifter?  If so it looks pretty nasty.  Had a 67 B/GT years ago, great 3 seasons car, but man it got hot in the summer.

Yep. That was the worst one, if I remember, but they were almost all pitted to some degree. The inside of the oil pan sure was sparkly...

Me too. My dad had an MG coffee-table book when I was a kid, and I’d just stare at the GT photos for ages. Wanted one ever since. And now I have one.

Your approach to fixing the electrical is fitting, banish the entire loom because it cannot be trusted

I think the lifters and the rod bearing failures were unrelated. Sounds like your kind of failure is pretty common. I searched MGB Tappets and came up with some that looked just like yours.

That looks kinda like the Painless kit that I used, actually... and is that an old Power Wagon?

Yeah I have an M37. It’s a GM I think. It’s more GM now, I’m putting 1 ton disk brakes on it with a kit.

I like MGs.  What has kept me from owning an MG is directly centered around the butchered wiring I have encountered on every car I went to see.
